Information for guests

Thanks for coming to support your graduands. We're really pleased to welcome you on this proud occasion.

To make sure things run as smoothly as possible, there are a few things we ask of all our guests.

Entering the ceremony

All of our Graduation ceremonies take place in Whitworth Hall, in the centre of our campus on Oxford Road. The guest entrance to the hall is on Oxford Road. Stewards will direct guests to the main hall and to their seats.

Disabled access to Whitworth Hall is via the Main Quad. A Steward will be able to direct you. You'll need to let us know in advance if you need extra assistance or space.

All guests with tickets should be seated 15 minutes before the ceremony start. If you arrive later than this we cannot guarantee you access to the hall and you will be directed to the live screening in University Place, Theatre A..

Guests without tickets can watch the ceremony via a live Cinema Link in University Place, Theatre A.

Young children

Young children are welcome in the main hall, as long as they are able to sit and remain quiet for the duration of the ceremony. They must be supervised throughout, and there are no crèche facilities available. Children in their own seat must have a ticket.

Young Children often find the Live Cinema Link a better alternative.

Inviting guests from overseas

Visa information >

If you are planning to invite guests from overseas, you may find it helpful to look at the information on applying for immigration permission to travel to the UK.

All graduands are guaranteed 2 guest tickets and you are advised not to make any costly travel arrangements. No further tickets will be allocated prior to the ceremonies. Guests without tickets will not gain entry to the ceremony in Whitworth Hall, and we would hate for you and your guests to be disappointed.
