I have outstanding tuition fees – can I still register to come to the ceremony?

If you have any tuition fees owing to the University, you cannot attend the ceremony and your certificate and transcripts are withheld until the debt is settled. Take a look at the key dates page to see when all outstanding fees must be paid by.

How do I register?

Register your attendance or non-attendance via the instructions in your invitation email, sent to you once registration opens. 

If you click on the link in your invitation email, it should take you to your Student Centre page.

On a desktop or laptop, the Graduation Attendance tile will appear on the first page of the Student Centre home screen. However, if you are using a mobile device with a smaller screen, the Graduation Attendance tile may appear on page 2. In this case, you will need to use the button in the top right-hand corner of the screen to switch to page 2 in order to view the required tile.

I have registered to attend graduation and have not received my confirmation email or my confirmation email states that I have zero tickets allocated.

This may be because you have tuition fees owing to the University. Contact graduation@manchester.ac.uk to flag the issues. The key dates page shows when the confirmation email is sent.

When should I register?

Find out more about when registration opens and closes on the key dates page. We’ll send you an email to prompt you to register.

What will happen when I register?

You should register to:

• Attend the ceremony with or without guests (two guests maximum).
• Not Attend, known as ‘Graduating in Absentia’, where you choose not to attend the ceremony and your certificate will be posted to you. Do not query non-arrival of your certificate until after 31 August 2026
• Choose to defer your ceremony to either December 2026 or July 2027.

I need to change my email address/postal address/home telephone number

Log in to the Student System where you will be able to make changes until the registration deadline.

I don't wish to have my name printed in the official programme

Please notify us as soon as possible. Email graduation@manchester.ac.uk  with the subject line 'Remove my name from the official programme for July 2026'.  

Can I defer my graduation ceremony? 

Yes, you are permitted to defer your graduation ceremony for up to 12 months. You need to record the deferral otherwise you will not be permitted to attend a future ceremony. 

Log into the Student System, register to not attend and select the deferred option.
