The graduation ceremonies are hosted every year at the Whitworth Hall (No. 50 on the campus map).

How do I know if I’m potentially eligible to attend?

If you are in your final year of your programme and due to complete and be fully awarded this winter, you'll be identified as potentially eligible to attend the ceremony. We will be sending confirmation emails to all students with confirmed attendance on Thursday, 27 November.

For more information, please visit the Immigration and Visas support page.

I’m not attending the ceremony - do I need to do anything?

Yes. It is equally important that you register to say you are not attending (either graduating in absentia, or deferring your ceremony) via the registration process in  the Student System. If you complete the registration by the deadline your degree will be posted to your home address after the final ceremonies.

If you don't register to say you are not attending, your certificate will not be automatically posted to you. You will have 12 months from the date registration closes  to request a physical copy of your certificate.

The Student Administration Team will contact eligible students with a request form.

How do I hire my gown?

The University has appointed Ede & Ravenscroft as our preferred gown supplier.

It is recommended that you hire your gown, hood and mortarboard/cap through them to ensure exact colour matching and design.

If you hire or purchase your gown from another source, you must ensure that is the correct colour, design, and style for your level of award. If it is not, you will not be permitted to attend your ceremony.

Please order your gown by Monday, 24 November 2025. You should also bring your confirmation details with you on the day.

Please see Ede & Ravenscroft for booking and all related information.

How many tickets can I have?

You request guest tickets as part of the registration process once you have selected the option to attend.

All graduates are guaranteed two guest tickets free of charge. If there is a specific reason you require additional tickets, please add the number of required tickets and your comments to the Student System when completing the registration.

The deadline to complete this is Wednesday, 26 November 2025.

The requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, considering the capacity of the Hall and the Health and Safety arrangement. Additional tickets will only apply for the ceremony in the Hall, not for the celebration marquee.

If your request for additional tickets is approved, we'll confirm your guest tickets in your confirmation email. You'll need to show this email at the registration desk, University Place (37 on the campus map) when collecting your tickets on the day of your ceremony.

You can't collect tickets or register more than two hours before your assigned ceremony.

Please note: there are separate instructions for Global MBA Students to register for their guest tickets.

When will I receive my tickets?

Tickets for guests will be issued on the day of the ceremony to you when you register your attendance and receive your seat number.

When will I receive my certificate?

If you're attending your ceremony, you will receive your certificate on stage during your ceremony.

If you're not attending, you will still need to respond to your invitation to complete registration through the system. Here you can update your home address to receive your certificate by post.
