When are Summer 2024 graduation ceremonies?

Summer graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2024 will be taking place from Monday, 8 July to Friday, 19 July 2024. The full list of dates and times of each ceremony will be released when registration opens on 15 April, and we'll email you with further instructions on how to register.   

Where are the graduation ceremonies being held?

The graduation ceremonies are hosted every year at the Whitworth Hall (No. 50 on the campus map).

How do I know if I’m potentially eligible to attend?

If you are in your final year of your programme and due to complete and be fully awarded this summer, then you will be identified as potentially eligible to attend the ceremony. We will be sending confirmation emails to all students with confirmed attendance on Thursday, 4 July 2024.  

How much will it cost to attend?

There is no cost for your ceremony. Your entrance is free and includes a maximum of two free guest tickets.

Gowns must be worn and the online hire cost from Ede & Ravenscroft, the universities official gown hire is £42 for a Bachelor and Masters Gown and £56 for a Doctoral gown. If you forget to pre-order your gown, the hire cost on the day will be higher than the prices above.

Optional and additional costs include professional photography, parking, food and drinks on campus etc. 

How and when will I be able to register to attend?

The instruction on how to register will be emailed to your university and personal email address we currently hold on your student record when registration opens on Monday, 15 April 2024.

GMBA students will be emailed before close of business Friday, 19 April 2024. Please note that registration is different for GMBA, and instructions will be included in this email.

How do I get confirmation of registration?

We do not send out confirmation that you have registered, however, you can log in tothe Student System and check your registration status at any time. 

Formal confirmation, once registration has closed on Friday 28 June 2024, will be sent with your ticket allocation in an email on Thursday, 4 July. You should bring the email with you on the day of your ceremony to pick up your tickets and seat number. 

I’m not attending the ceremony - do I need to do anything?

Yes. It is equally important that you register to say you are not attending (either graduating in abesentia, or deferring your ceremony) via the registration process in the Student System. By registering, you can choose to have your certificate either sent you through the post or to be collected from you School Support Hub. If you do not register to say you are not attending, your certificate will not be automatically posted to you. You will have 12 months from the date registration closes on Friday, 28 June 2024 to request a physical copy of your certificateThis can be requested by contacting Student Services on graduation@manchester.ac.uk. 

How do I hire my gown?

All gown hire should be arranged via Ede & Ravenscroft, the University’s official gown supplier. Please see Graduation Services | Ede & Ravenscroft (edeandravenscroft.com) for booking and all related information. 

Please order your gown by  Monday, 24 June 2024.

How many tickets can I have?

You are guaranteed a maximum of 2 guest tickets (government guidelines allowing); these must be requested through the Student Systemwhen you register your intention to graduate at a ceremony. The deadline to do this is Friday, 28 June 2024.  

You will receive an email confirming your registration on Thuesday, 4 July 2024. You will need to show this email at the registration desk, University Place (37 on the campus map) when collecting your tickets on the day of your ceremony. 

No further tickets will be allocated prior to the ceremonies. In the event that there are any additional tickets available for your ceremony, these will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis on the day when registration opens for your ceremony. Please do not rely on this and do not make arrangements on the assumption that more than 2 guests will be seated in the Whitworth Hall. 

(Please Note: there are separate instructions for Global MBA Students to register for their guest tickets.)  

You cannot collect tickets or register more than 2 hours before your assigned ceremony. 

When will I receive my tickets?

Tickets for guests will be issued on the day of the ceremony to you when you register your attendance and receive your seat number. Please note, when registering on the day, you will receive your seat number and a maximum of 2 x guest tickets.

When will I receive my certificate?

If you attend the ceremony and have a completed degree award, you will receive your certificate as you leave the stage from the centre steps. If you are not attendingyou will need to register to receive your certificate by post or opt to collect from your Student SupporHub or Doctoral Academy.

If I am due to graduate, when can I have my transcript?

From the day of your graduation ceremony, you will be able to access your digital transcript online free of charge. For new users of Digitary, please register here. You will not be able to register for Digitary access until the day of your graduation. 

When will my student IT account close? 

IT accounts of 2024 Summer graduates will expire at the end of the day on Wednesday, 31 July 2024.

How do I access my Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR)?

Graduated students will be able to access their HEAR online via Digitarybut this will not be fully available for all students after the end of graduation.

I don't wish to have my name printed in the official programme:

Should you not wish to have your name printed on the the official graduation programme please notify us in time and on or before  Friday, 28 June 2024, you will need to email graduation@manchester.ac.uk to notify us and clearly head the email and include the subject line 'Remove my name from the official graduation programme for July 2024'.
